Sözcük Bilgisi Soruları
YÖKDİL'de doğrudan kelime sorusu gelmez — kelime, bağlam içinde test edilir. Eşanlamlı bulma, anlam dışı olanı tespit etme veya boşluğa uygun kelimeyi seçme biçiminde gelir.
Bir kelimeyi "bilmek" 4 boyutu kapsar: form (yazılış/telaffuz), meaning (kavramsal anlam), use (dilbilgisel kullanım) ve collocations (birlikte geldiği kelimeler). YÖKDİL bu boyutların tamamını bağlam içinde test eder.
Kelimeyi hiç bilmiyorsan paniğe kapılma. Cümlenin "olumlu/olumsuz" (Polarite +/-) tonuna bak. Boşluğa olumsuz bir durum gerekiyorsa, şıklarda pro-, bene-, en- gibi olumlu kök alan kelimeleri direkt ele. Hala iki şık arasındaysan, işaretle, yanına bir soru işareti koy ve vakit kaybetmeden diğer soruya geç.

Akademik İngilizce'de zaman seçimi rastgele değildir. Sağlık metinlerinde araştırma bulguları, klinik kanıtlar ve genel gerçekler farklı zamanlarla ifade edilir.
Akademik metinde zaman seçimi rastgele değildir: genel gerçekler Simple Present, tamamlanmış araştırmalar Simple Past veya Present Perfect, devam eden çalışmalar Present Perfect Continuous ile ifade edilir. Bu ayrım YÖKDİL'de sıklıkla test edilir.
Şıklarda hem Simple Past hem Present Perfect varsa, cümlenin bir yerinde mutlaka zaman zarfı (in 1999, recently vb.) vardır. Onu bulamıyorsan ve süre daralıyorsa Present Perfect'e (veya Present'a) meyil et. Çünkü tıbbi makalelerin genel doğası birikimli bilime dayanır (has shown that...).
YÖKDİL, olasılık ile kesin çıkarımı test eder. Kesin çıkarım: must (güçlü kanıta dayalı). Olasılık: may/might (spekülatif).

Cümleyi tam çeviremiyorsan kelimelerin "tonuna" bak. Boşluğun öncesindeki yargı Olumlu (+), sonrasındaki yargı Olumsuz (-) ise kesinlikle zıtlık bağlacı aramalısın.

YÖKDİL'in en yüksek bilişsel yük barındıran bölümüdür. Yanlış cümle, doğru bir tıbbi bilgi verebilir; asıl sorun o bilginin paragrafın o anki odağıyla (focus) uyuşmamasıdır.
1. Cümle Pusuladır: 1. cümle paragrafın sınırlarını çizer. Diğer cümleler o sınırın dışına (Tarihten günümüze atlama, hastalıktan tedaviye aniden geçme) çıkarsa sırıtacaktır.
Test Et (Sağlama): Şüphelendiğin cümleyi çıkar, bir öncekini bir sonrakine bağla. Mantıklıysa buldun demektir.
